Danny Darcy

My name is Danny Darcy, a very proud born and bred Galway man in the west of Ireland now living the dream in sunny Tenerife since 2009 .

How did you end up in Tenerife?

After living in Mallorca, I first visited Tenerife in the winter of 2008. From the moment I arrived, I just fell in love with the island. There was something about the climate, the scenery, the people and, most of all, the relaxed way of life that really appealed to me.

What's your recommendation for people looking for their own slice of paradise in Tenerife?

My main recommendation for anyone looking for a home in Tenerife is to take the time to explore different areas before making a decision. Each part of the island has its own character, lifestyle and atmosphere, so it’s important to consider what suits you best, whether that’s lively coastal living, a quieter residential area or somewhere surrounded by nature.

What do you do in your spare time?

I’ve been lucky enough to spend a lot of my spare time doing something I genuinely love — singing and performing. I’ve been performing at the world-famous Dubliner Bar in Las Américas, Tenerife, on and off since 2009, usually around six nights a week.

What is your favourite food?

My favourite food in Tenerife is papas arrugadas with mojo sauce. These small, wrinkled potatoes are traditionally boiled in salted water and served with a spicy red mojo or a milder green mojo. I also love trying fresh local seafood, especially grilled fish, and enjoying a slice of traditional gofio dessert.
